Mental Health and Behavioral Monitoring

The Maine Medical Professionals Health Program (MPHP) is a resource for healthcare professionals (and students of these professions), with health concerns that include behavioral and mental health issues.

The stigma that often surrounds burnout and other mental health challenges plays a major role in whether a healthcare professional will seek assistance. The MPHP provides a safe environment for health professionals to talk about the stress and demands of healthcare practice and the impacts that personal and professional issues are having on their health and wellbeing. Many times, these challenges can also lead to patient safety concerns.

MPHP intake assessments  are designed to identify the health concerns that are impacting the health professional’s life and provide recommendations and resources to help them return to health and safe practice.

Additionally, the MPHP offers a Behavioral Health Monitoring Agreement for those professionals experiencing mental health/behavioral issues, or stress and burnout as a more preventative measure.
